Given the nearly 300,000 SMEs in Finland, the implementation of AI in these enterprises profoundly influences the country’s competitiveness, societal development, and, at its best, fosters well-being, innovation, and economic growth.
Expert content is being crafted as part of the project AI-Smart SME: The transformative power of utilizing AI for SMEs and their employees at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, spanning from 2023 to 2025.
This engaging series features discussions with influential Finnish figures about the future of AI and it’s impact on society, work, people, and our daily lifes. The AI-TIE portal (aistories.fi) was initially developed as a key component of the AI-TIE Artificial Intelligence Innovation Ecosystem, focused on enhancing competitiveness for SMEs, and the AI-TIE Southern Finland projects (2021–2023). Further details about their execution and collaborative efforts are outlined below. In November 2023, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences launched a subsequent project, “Smart SME: Empowering Change with AI for SMEs and their Employees” (2023–2025). Financed by the Occupational Safety and Health Fund, this project seamlessly continues the momentum from the AI-TIE initiative, leveraging and expanding upon its established results, which concluded in August 2023.
In the AI-Smart SME: Transformative power of utilizing AI for SMEs and their employees project the collaborating partners include Business Helsinki, Central Uusimaa Development Company KEUKE, West Uusimaa Chamber of Commerce, Suomen yrittäjät, Healthtech Finland, Tradenomiliitto, Nestor Partners and Yrityskummit. The project also collaborates with Turku Chamber of Commerce, Posintra, the Development Company of Eastern Uusimaa, and Cursor, the development company of the Kotka-Hamina region. Project is funded by The Finnish Work Environment Fund.
Web portal www.aistories.fi was created as a part AI-TIE – AI Technology Innovation Ecosystems for Competitiveness of SMEs (2021-2023) and AI-TIE South Finland (2022-2023) projects, which were supported by the European Regional Development Fund (REACT-EU) and Regional Councils of Helsinki-Uusimaa and Kymenlaakso.
